Billy Bonney’s hometown, Lincoln, New Mexico was a very dangerous little village. Between 1868 and 1882 in the surrounding area, 44 people were shot to death, including one woman. Six were hanged (once twice) and there was one poisoning of a no good husband. Obviously the Kid fit right in. Yes, that is the torreon behind Billy on the right, and yes, he is suppressing a smile. Or, is that a smirk?
